Pt2. Bridal Inspo Images

sabinamcivor

Following on from my previous post about AI images being use as inspiration, I'd also like to bring attention to what your MUA is looking at when you present them with an inspirational image of their desired look.

When a bride-to-be shows me a makeup look they want to achieve here are the key things I take from the image itself:

  • The colour palette used on the model in terms of eyeshadow, blush and lip shades.

  • The style in which it's been applied.

  • The models face shape, features, and skin tone and how it may or may not reflect the same on your own.

  • The level in which the image has been edited so I can manage your expectations when seeing the finished result on your own real skin.

Quite often brides can get carried away with the beauty of model that is featured in the image, the setting, the lighting, or even the outfit - because we can all appreciate a professional beauty shot of a bride. But what went into that photo is also professional lighting, professional styling, hair styling, edited all on the face of a professional model who knows her angles and how best to highlight her beauty.

In comparison, you may not have had your bridal hair done at a trial (unless you've managed to book the two together or your MUA also offers hair), the lighting won't be of photographic studio standard, you might be self conscious when taking your first look in the mirror - often holding it too close to your face so every pore is at the focus of your attention (and by the way, NO ONE is looking that closely at you on your wedding day, and if they are, you might want to question their motive!), and finally, you might have arrived at your trial wearing a hoody, or everyday tee! These are ALL things to consider when making a quick judgment that you "don't look like the image".

This might all sound rather harsh, but these things happen more regularly than you might think. Of course, I don't like to generalise, this isn't always the case, but can be. So it's my job to make sure you understand the service, the considerations, the process and the result in a way that leaves you feeling confident and happy in your bridal trial experience!
