It has become evident that the position of 'Mother of the Groom' is often undervalued in wedding ceremonies. Frequently, I hear the phrase, "I'm just the groom's mum."
At a recent wedding I was working, the groom's mother reached out to me via email, expressing her desire to appear presentable so as not to "embarrass her son" on his special day. Can you believe that this was her initial concern!
The mother of the groom should feel just as proud and excited about the wedding as the mother of the bride. She will witness her son, whom she has nurtured to become a caring, strong, and respectful individual, join hands with their new life partner. It is these admirable qualities (not to mention the good looks that would have undoubtedly come from their mother) that have captured the bride's heart. You're welcome! May they enjoy a long, happy and fulfilled life together.
Therefore, let's not underestimate the significance of the groom's mother. After all, it is her son who will bear the responsibility of protecting his new wife and future family - according to tradition.
